In the Beginning
Criterion, Inc. was founded on the simplicity of the American Dream. The promise that hard work and good customer service pays off and endures the test of time.
In 1978 James Kaufman was approached by a person whom he was working for and asked if he could reweave a high-end piece of lawn furniture. Knowing that his mother had taught him these very skills as a child he said yes. Wanting to do the job properly he went downtown to visit the store that sold this furniture and requested the proper material to complete the job. The store manager took notice and told the young Mr. Kaufman “if you can actually do that kind of weave successfully we will have plenty of work for you”. Well let’s just say the job was completed, and everyone was impressed with the work. There was a need, James had the skills, it was 1980 and Criterion was born.
In the years to follow, competition would come and go but Criterion, Inc. remains an industry leader recognized for its unwavering attention to detail, superior customer service and dedication to innovation.
Today, Criterion, Inc. continues to grow and pioneer. Originally specializing in residential re-weaving only, the company expanded its services to include welding, powder coating, wrought iron restoration, and large commercial jobs. Growth and demand allowed the company to relocate to a much larger commercial property and now employees over 30 full time employees.
To this very day Criterion follows the values the company was founded on, exceptional customer service and superior workmanship. We don’t just restore your furniture, we enable you to rediscover childhood memories. We revive a piece of history that could have been lost forever. We care about what we do.
We are honored to be a family owned and operated business. We take great pride in the relationships we have with our clients. Work with Criterion once and you’ll feel like family too.
From our knowledgable office staff to our dedicated delivery team, our goal is to establish a relationship that would secure your attention for years to come.
